Our Cake Shipping Story

How It Began

During the pandemic, some of our longtime customers moved away from New York but still reached out with one request: “Can you ship us a cake?”

At first, we said no; we were hesitant. Cakes are delicate, and we had never shipped them before. We weren’t sure our cakes would withstand the journey or reflect the signature quality we put into every order.

As their requests continued, we knew we needed to develop a process that truly worked for our customers’ needs. It may sound simple, but getting a cake safely across the country required testing, planning, and care. We had to find the right approach for us.

The Idea of Cakes in a Tin

For decades, tin containers have been used to store and share favorites like cookies, and during the holiday season, for pound cakes and fruitcakes. They have also been the classic home of Caribbean rum cake, a traditional cake made with dried fruits soaked in rum.

In recent years, as shipping cakes in tins gained popularity within the Dominican baking community, we saw a meaningful opportunity to bridge the distance for our customers. Inspired by those who had moved away but still longed for our cakes, we set out to provide the same signature quality they have always loved, delivered straight to their doorstep.

Our First Test

In 2024, motivated by our customers’ requests, we finally decided to give it a try. We shipped trial batches of cakes in tins to different locations across the United States, taking into account the many factors involved in shipping something as delicate as a Dominican cake with filling and Italian meringue (suspiro).

Following these test shipments, to achieve the results we wanted, we meticulously refined our recipes and fine-tuned our logistics to ensure the integrity of our cakes. After rigorous testing, the cakes arrived fresh, tasted delicious, and most importantly, our customers were delighted.

A Sweet New Chapter

That was the turning point. Soon, orders began coming in not only from our loyal long-distance customers, who were thrilled to finally enjoy our cakes again, but also from new customers in places where Dominican cake wasn’t easy to find. As word spread, more people reached out, eager to experience the flavor they had been missing.

Our Version, From the Heart

Our Dominican cakes in a tin are more than a product. They are a celebration of tradition. Each cake is freshly prepared, placed in our signature FDA-approved white tin, tied with our custom logo ribbon, and carefully wrapped for protection. They are made to bring back the memories that matter most: childhood celebrations, family gatherings, and the taste of home.

This journey exists because of our customers—those who moved away but never stopped supporting us, and those who discovered us from places where Dominican cakes are hard to find. Today, we’re proud to ship our cakes across the USA, bringing a piece of heritage, celebration, and taste of home straight to your door.
